Established in 1812 by Lord Selkirk settlers, Winnipeg’s North End was quickly established as a working class neighborhood. The North End saw an influx of European immigrants pre and post-World War I and then again after World War II with immigrants from Poland, Ukraine and Germany. Since then the area has seen its ups and downs with many revitalization projects coming and going. The North End has some famous residents – The Guess Who’s Burton Cummings, “Let’s Make A Deal” host Monty Hall, the late journalist Larry Zolf and comedian/actor/writer/director David Steinberg.
While the North End has seen the good and the bad times, this blog was started to calm the negative press and promote the good that we have. We’re a hard working bunch of people who love where they live, work hard to raise their kids and take pride in their community.
